Cali | Bridal

Chris+Cali

Chris and Cali were a true delight to photograph.

Cali and I have known each other for almost 12 years now.

The worst part about realizing that we have known each other for that long is realizing it was almost 12 years ago when we were seniors in high school. We met at a conference where we were actually roommates for the weekend. These were the days before social media truly existed and the days before anyone and everyone could get on Facebook, so we didn't reconnect until at least a couple of years into college at Oklahoma State. We would occasionally run into each other on campus, but we were on completely opposite sides of campus so it wasn't often.

I was so excited when Cali first messaged me on Instagram to inquiry about wedding photography. I had been crossing my fingers since I found out her and Chris had started talking about getting married that she would be interested in wedding photography. (P.S. Thanks for picking me!)

Cali is (and always have been) one of those people that just makes you feel good. I have so loved getting to know her again the past few months as we have been planning out her wedding day photography.

I don't think it could have gone anymore beautifully than it did. Everything from the flowers to her perfectly paired jewelry to her dress to her groom was just wonderful.

My favorite parts of weddings has nothing to due with the wedding itself. Sure, I love all the beautiful parts, but I really love getting to know the couple and getting to hear all the wonderful things about them from their family and friends.

Chris is such a sweet and patient man. Before we started Chris' groom photos, he asked me one question-- "When can I see Cali?" And, I think the smile on his face said it all.

And, Cali is not only a beautiful bride, but she is so caring and kind. Her smile lights up the room and when you finish talking to her you literally feel like you could conquer the world. She was changing diapers and finding lost hangers just minutes before putting on her wedding dress. She continually was putting others before herself on her wedding day and like Chris the only questions she kept asking me was "How is Chris?"

These two have a beautifully sweet life ahead of them and I can't wait to see it all play out.

Congratulations Chris and Cali!

Winner!

Last week, I found out I WON an Instagram giveaway!

Family Joolz is an ETSY shop that is sweet enough to host a fun giveaway and I just happened to be the lucky winner.

I absolutely LOVE the color and I love the oval shape even more in person.

I threw this together because I have been dying to take pictures of the little thing, so my props were short notice, so hopefully this weekend I can plan a little better and get a few more photos of it, but for now... here is a little sneak peek!

Thank you Family Joolz! I can't wait to send you some photos of this gorgeous thing!

The Urban Acres

Last weekend, I attended a lifestyle photography workshop hosted by the wonderful Jessica Tucker Photography at the home of The Urban Acres aka Andrew+Sallie.

We started shooting in their home and let me just start by saying their house is just awesome-- hardwood floors, a beautiful kitchen, farm sink, farm table and all sorts of neat vintage decorations. I had a blast just checking out their home. Oh, and they have a chicken in their backyard! How fun is that!? (see below) And, we even took some with the chicken.

Lola the puppy seemed to make her way in almost every setup-- And, I probably have more photos of her than I do of her parents! ha :)

Thank you Jessica for hosting such a wonderful workshop. I learned so much and I can't wait to implement the things I learned in my next session and next wedding this weekend.

Be sure to check out Sallie's blog at www.urbanacres.com for more DIY/Lifestyle/Home inspiration.

I am not good with secrets...

So, this weekend I shot a GORGEOUS bride on the beautiful Oklahoma State University campus and it was absolutely wonderful.

We started the shoot over on the terrace of the student union... ironically the place Cali and I first met ... in 2005!

Yes, 2005. Cali and I were both involved in FFA in high school and attended the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Fall Conference! We spent the weekend on campus and pretended like we were college kids, but in fact we were only seniors in high school.

We both went to OSU the following fall, but didn't really stay in contact... because you know at that time texting, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat wasn't really a thing. So, it wasn't until a few years later that we came back in contact and then a few years after that she sent me a message on Instagram inquiring about wedding package information.

I was beyond excited and crossing my fingers that she picked me to shoot her big day because I knew it was going to be fabulous and let me just tell you from the details I have heard-- it is going to be fabulous. I mean you should see her dress alone.

Thankfully, I don't have to keep it a secret for too much longer because Chris and Cali get married in  10 days sooooo.... until then the only thing I can share is this photo from the mini bouquet I made at the last minute for a little bit of color for Cali's bridal session! But, you can bet that I already have a scheduled blog post for the day after the wedding!

P.S. Thank you Chris and Cali for picking me!!
